Déclaration de presse du CODDAE relative à l’assassinat de six touristes français et deux ressortissants nigériens à Kouré

Le dimanche 9 août 2020, aux environs de midi nous avons appris avec indignation l’assassinat de six touristes français et deux ressortissants nigériens (sept travailleurs de l’ONG Acted et leur guide). Ils ont été assassinés par des individus armés dans la zone de Kouré, située à environ 60 km au Sud-est de Niamey.

Les huit personnes, participaient à une excursion touristique dans cette zone réputée pour abriter les derniers troupeaux de girafes d'Afrique de l'Ouest.

Cet incident met en péril les activités destinées à sauver des vies dans un contexte marqué par des conflits et la pandémie de Covid-19. Cette attaque est non seulement une attaque contre des individus mais également contre toute la communauté humanitaire et de développement au Niger.

Condamnons avec la plus grande fermeté cette attaque meurtrière.

Tout en saluant les autorités nigériennes pour les efforts déjà fournis, nous les exhortons à garantir davantage un environnement sécurisé pour tous.

Nous présentons nos sincères condoléances à l’ONG Acted et aux familles des disparus.

Face à cette situation, nous condamnons avec la dernière énergie cet acte ignoble et déplorons la dégradation de la situation sécuritaire au Niger.

Nous déclarons, en solidarité avec les familles affectées, que ce crime odieux ne doit pas rester impuni, et ne nous détournera pas de notre engagement.

Déclaration de la CODDAE à propos des coupures d’électricité et à l’interdiction d’entrée des citernes d’hydrocarbures au Niger suite aux sanctions de la CEDEAO et de l’UEMOA

At the end of its extraordinary meeting held on Thursday 7 September 2023 at its headquarters in the Academy of Arts, to examine the situation following the closure of land borders and the suspension of electricity by Nigeria on the instructions of its President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the military coup in Niger on 26 July 2023, the Collectif pour la Défense du Droit à l'Energie (CODDAE) issued the following statement.

True to its principles, CODDAE condemns any seizure of power by force, while taking note of this coup d'état.
For the past four (4) weeks, electricity has been unjustly cut off in all regions of Niger. This situation highlights two equally serious aspects: on a purely commercial level, it is a breach of contract that is as illegal as it is immature for a modern state and symptomatic of a sister state that is forgetting the foundations of African tradition and the word given by its predecessors.

This is totally incomprehensible for a country like ours, home of Professor Abdou Moumouni Dioffo and Professor Albert Wright, African pioneers of solar energy, and a country with natural energy resources such as uranium, oil, gas, coal, etc., to be faced with an electricity problem despite countless calls over the years from the former directors of Nigelec about the possibility of a supply disruption and the measures to be taken.
